What's New for the 2021 Toyota Avalon?

In 2021, changes for the Toyota Avalon are primarily made to its interior. This year, all trim levels of the Toyota Avalon come with Android Auto for the first time, which joins Apple CarPlay and Amazon Alexa as part of the Avalon's comprehensive list of technology features. More safety technology is added to the Avalon as well. The Toyota Avalon's hybrid cousin Avalon Hybrid now also comes standard with Android Auto for 2021. The Toyota Avalon Hybrid has a different battery this year made out of lithium-ion to replace its battery from 2020.

2021 Avalon Trims & Features

The 2021 Toyota Avalon and Toyota Avalon Hybrid have the same first three trims with virtually identical features. The first trim level in both is called the XLE. Its exterior has a sharp look that's equally functional with alloy wheels, LED headlights, and LED taillights. At a minimum, creature comforts and amenities with the base trim include a 9-inch user-friendly touchscreen interface with a trio of apps. Dual-zone climate control ensures everyone's comfort, while heated front seats are a welcome addition in winter.

The base trim has four USB charging ports divided across the first and second rows. Next, the XSE Nightshade Edition has a blacked-out exterior with 19-inch painted black wheels and black trim accents for added appeal. The Limited has leather upholstery, chrome alloy wheels, a sunroof, and heated seats in both rows. A wireless charging station is included, and it has wood interior trim accents for a luxurious look. With the regular 2021 Avalon also comes the Touring with custom wheels and adaptive suspension dampers. The TRD has a rear spoiler, an aerodynamic body kit, and a black roof.

2021 Toyota Avalon Horsepower

The 2021 Avalon gets one of two engines, while the Hybrid has one powertrain. The automatic transmission is standard with both models. This year, all-wheel drive is offered for the XLE and Touring trims. The Avalon's power output ranges from 205 HP with the base engine to 301 HP with the available engine, while the Hybrid gets 215 HP.

Toyota Avalon Safety

Blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation, and pedestrian detection are standard. The top trims also add parking sensors in the front and back and rear cross-traffic braking.
