Discerning truck buyers may be scouring the market in search of a vehicle that lives up to their high expectations. You may consider looking at last year's best-selling truck in the midsize class as a source of inspiration. The 2017 Toyota Tacoma earned this honor last year, truck buyers have even more to look forward to in the 2018 model. Toyota retained the interior design and exterior body style that truck buyers loved with last year's model. The impressive interior features and the muscular exterior of the 2018 Tacoma may be difficult to beat when comparing them to other trucks in this class today.
While much remains the same between the 2017 and 2018 Tacoma trucks, one notable improvement stands out in the more recent model. All trim levels of the 2018 Toyota Tacoma now have enhanced safety capabilities because of the introduction of the Safety Sense P system. This standard feature gives drivers access to radar cruise control, sway warning capabilities, automatic high beams, lane departure and a pre-collision warning system with pedestrian detection.
As wonderful as the Tacoma is, Toyota understands that one truck does not meet all needs. To satisfy the needs of many buyers, it has created six trim levels in 2018. These are the most basic SR and SR5 options, and the mid-range TRD Off-Road and TRD Sport Options. The Limited and TRD Pro round out the trim levels available. Most of the trim options for 2018 are available with your choice of gas engines and cabin sizes for further customization.
Despite the wide range of Tacoma configurations that are possible, you may be pleased to learn that all of these options include many similar features as standard equipment. Upgraded trims may have more robust features as well. Standard interior features are a leather-wrapped tilt steering wheel, power steering, adaptive cruise control, a high-quality sound system, a keyless ignition starter, remote door locks, powered windows, heated side mirrors, turn signals in the mirrors and several other standard features. A Toyota salesperson can answer your questions about the differences between the many 2018 trim possibilities.
After you select the desired trim for your new Tacoma, you can select the right engine option that is suitable for your needs. The primary engine selections are the four-cylinder gas engine or the six-cylinder gas engine. With your selection of the four-cylinder engine in your 2018 Tacoma, you can enjoy the power of 159 foot-pounds of torque and 180 horsepower. With the six-cylinder engine, you will have access to 279 foot-pounds of torque with 280 horsepower. Numerous mechanical features in the 2018 Toyota Tacoma facilitate a superior driving experience. These include stability control, four-wheel drive, traction control, six-speed automatic transmission, front suspension and others.
Safety should not be overlooked when you are preparing to buy a new truck, and you will find that the new Safety Sense P feature available in the 2018 Tacoma is not the only safety feature that you will benefit from. All 2018 Tacoma trucks also come with headrests for all passengers, airbags in the front and on the sides, an engine immobilizer, forward tow hooks, ABS braking with front disc and rear drum brakes and more.
To provide you with an even greater sense of security in your new Tacoma, the NHTSA issues four stars in the overall safety area with only five stars possible. Likewise, U.S. News gave it 9.3 out of 10 potential points for safety. The IIHS also tested the Tacoma in five areas and it received the highest safety rating possible for all tests.
