Toyota's GR Cup Set to Debut in 2023

Toyota's race called the GR cup will happen under the SRO banner in 2023. This is going to be an all-new racing series that will be single make. It was announced in the spring of 2022 by the Toyota Gazoo Racing of North America organization.

The Toyota Cup

This new series of races will help to show the validating chops of a Toyota GR machine. To make it serious enough, the GR Cup is giving up one million dollars for the total purse and the prizes happening with the cup. Multiple partners have made this possible from Toyota. It's shaping up to be a major event as car racing enthusiasts will likely be enjoying the combination of everything that car racing culture loves.

This is called Single-make racing, and it's a category where every driver in the race will be using identical vehicles from the same manufacturer. IN this cup, the single-make that will be used is called the GR86. So, stock GR86 machines will then be upgraded to the ones specifically for the cup in a facility in Mooresville, North Carolina. This is where it will get Bororsch engine management as well as a custom exhaust system from Borla.

Added on will be the Sadev-6 transmission. It will also get the Alcon brakes, adjustable shocks, and more. The goal of these races won't just be to show off the Toyota vehicles and the GR brand but to make it so that the Toyota engineers can learn how to push forward their vehicles using the data that they receive.

The expectation is that after all of these races, you will end up with a completely new Toyota vehicle series. The series will come out of Toyota Gazoo Racing North America.

In general, this will be an important race that will be likely to come up with new innovations that many car and racing enthusiasts have never seen before.
