Unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show last month, the eighth-generation Toyota Camry is back with a bang that is sure to stimulate your senses. Flaunting a full redesign, the 2018 Camry adds seductive styling, thrilling performance and innovative technology to its extensive repertoire. Get the details on the forthcoming model below.
“The all-new 2018 Camry is, without a doubt, the most captivating mid-size sedan we’ve ever produced,” said Bob Carter, Toyota senior vice president of automotive operations. “It delivers on everything Camry owners have come to expect from America’s best-selling car, and adds to it, jaw-dropping design, more advanced technology, cutting-edge safety systems, and stirring performance that raises it to an unparalleled level of excitement.”
Head-Turning New Look
According to Toyota, there were three main goals for the Camry redesign. The first was to lower the car’s center of gravity to give it a wider, more commanding stance. By cutting the overall vehicle height by an inch, the designers made it even easier to implement the second goal: make the Camry even sportier. From its lower roofline and aerodynamic shape to its lowered seats, the 2018 Camry will certainly be a fierce competitor in the sports sedan market.
The third goal of the redesign, and perhaps the most important, was to give the Camry an even more emotional character. Sculpted body lines and expressive features make it impossible to look away from the Camry while its comfortable cabin and refined performance features foster a deep connection between driver and car.
Stunning Cabin DesignClimbing into the Camry’s cabin, you’ll first notice that the driver’s seat feels akin to a cockpit, with controls and gauges angled towards the driver. A sweeping line adds more character to the dash, drawing attention to the 8-inch center touchscreen which is programmed with the latest version of Entune infotainment.
Additionally, the 2018 Camry is outfitted with Toyota’s latest Human Machine Interface (HMI), which displays important information between a variety of displays, including the gauge cluster multi-information display, the touchscreen display, the HVAC control panel display and the available Head-Up display.

Top-Notch Performance Upgrades
Gas-powered Camry models are now available with one of two new powertrains: a 2.5-liter four-cylinder or a 3.5-liter V6. While fuel numbers are still being calculated, the four-cylinder is anticipated to achieve best-in-class fuel economy when paired to the all-new eight-speed automatic transmission. The Camry Hybrid models also receive a makeover, featuring a 2.5-liter four-cylinder and a continuously variable automatic transmission. The Camry Hybrid is expected to top its class for fuel efficiency as well.
The Camry rides on a new double wishbone rear suspension system that improves steering and handling for an even more enjoyable drive experience. According to Toyota, the Camry will deliver ride quality “on par with premium luxury vehicles.”
All-New Safety Technology
In addition to 10 standard airbags and electronic stability and traction control, all models of the 2018 Camry come standard with Toyota Safety Sense P. Included in that package are Automatic High Beams, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, and Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection. Additional features like Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert are also available.
“In order to create something that stirs people’s soul, we’ve laid out the concept of a new sedan that provides fun and excitement behind the wheel,” said Masato Katsumata, the Chief Engineer of the new Camry. “In developing the next-generation Toyota Camry, we were able to start with a clean slate, which allowed us to create a true driver’s car.”
