What's New For the 2021 Toyota 4Runner?

The most significant change for the 4Runner in 2021 is a new Trail Special Edition trim. The Trail Special Edition takes place as the second trim in the series. With the Trail Special Edition comes some additional amenities for off-road adventure and enjoyment. Special alloy wheels give the new trim a distinguished appearance on-road and off. The roof is accessorized with a Yakima cargo basket for additional carrying capacity and safe storage. In the back, a 40-quart accessory cooler is mounted to the cargo area for transporting extra supplies. Unique color schemes are available to give the Trail Special Edition a custom look, including Cement and Army green. The interior can be finished in two-tone color patterns. Along with the Trail Special Edition, all trims of the 4Runner now include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for a connected and entertaining ride.

2021 4Runner Is Impressive No Matter Which Trim You Choose

The base 4Runner trim in 2021 is the same as in 2020, the SR5. The SR5 has cloth upholstery and can seat either five or seven people. An infotainment system is standard, now with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and you can keep devices charged with a 120V power outlet in the back. Second, in line is the new Trail Special Edition. A wide range of colors gives the trim a personalized appearance. Alloy wheels finished in gray are standard-the SR5 Premium upgrades to a more luxurious cabin with a Smart Key entry system and push-button start. Exterior upgrades include heated side mirrors with integrated turn signals.

The TRD Off-Road has 17-inch wheels with seven spokes. Crawl control and part-time four-wheel drive are standard. The TRD Off-Road Premium has the same exterior features but adds more luxuries to the cabin, including simulated leather seats and captain's chairs in the back. A cargo roof rack is standard on the Venture Special Edition, which also has 17-inch TRD alloy wheels. The Limited has a rear spoiler, larger 20-inch alloy wheels, and dual-zone climate control. It also gets leather seats. The Nightshade Edition has an all-black exterior with matching black interior accents, while the TRD Off-Road Premium has matte exterior elements.
