Welcome to Village Pointe Toyota's Highlander Review
Safe, fun to drive and loaded with tech, the 2016 Toyota Highlander in Omaha is a great choice among three-row crossovers. For moms and dads who want a no-sacrifice SUV, it delivers on all fronts and so does its hybrid variant. Both have received the highest five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Both charm with their good looks on the outside and impress with their onslaught of technology on the inside. Plus, 2016 Toyota Highlander reviews say you'll get good fuel economy no matter the version you choose, though if you want the best the lineup has to offer the Highlander Hybrid shows off an EPA-estimated 27 mpg city/28 mpg highway.
Gas-only trim levels include the LE, LE Plus, XLE, Limited and Limited Platinum, while the hybrid is available in Limited and Limited Platinum models. Kicking things off in high gear, the LE flaunts high-end amenities like a rearview camera, heated exterior mirrors, Bluetooth Hands-Free Phone and Audio Streaming, a 6.1-inch touchscreen, and inputs for iPods and USBs. Every trim level beyond this adds several premium appointments to the list, such as the Limited's heated and ventilated front seats, LED cabin lighting, rear parking sensors and blind-spot monitoring system.
Three powertrain options are available for those purchasing a 2016 Toyota Highlander in Omaha, Nebraska. Base models offer a front-wheel-drive configuration and standard 2.7-liter four-cylinder that creates 185 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. Every trim above the base model offers a choice of front- or all-wheel drive and power comes from a 3.5-liter V6 that produces 270 horses and 248 pound-feet of torque. The V6 is optional on the LE by the way, so if you're interested in an entry-level trim, but want more power, you're in luck.
For hybrid shoppers, the powertrain includes a V6, multiple electric motors, a battery pack, standard AWD and a continuously variable transmission. Together the V6 and electric motors produce 280 horsepower, which means you'll actually get more power and greater fuel economy if you choose the hybrid.
