ToyotaĀ Vehicle Service Warning Indicators
To improve your ownership experience, you should learn what your vehicle's warning lights mean. Some lights indicate maintenance needs. Others signify immediate repairs. We explain ten common indicator lights today.

Airbag Fault
You want your safety features to properly deploy if needed. This light indicates a hardware or software fault associated with your airbags or seat belts. For your safety, seek immediate service.

Low Fuel Level Warning Light
When this light appears, your car is running out of gas. Fill up at the next gas station or convenience plaza.

Oil Pressure Warning Light
You'll know your oil pressure is low when you see this light. Safely stop and check your oil level. Add oil if needed. If this light shines despite adequate oil, you likely need a new oil pump, so book an immediate service appointment.

Service Vehicle Soon
When you see this indicator, it's time for scheduled maintenance. The manufacturer programs this light to glow after the number of miles that they recommend for an oil change. Get your tires rotated, and have any other scheduled maintenance for the current mileage amount addressed. Your service tech should reset this indicator.

TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System)
Driving with this light on is unsafe. It warns of low tire pressure. Check your tires and add air to the level recommended by your car's manufacturer. If the light still shines, get your TPMS sensors replaced.

Slip Indicator
Your traction control or vehicle stability system will be engaged if you see this light. The indicator blinks, and it should not stay constant. If it does, you likely need traction system repairs.

Charging System Warning Light
You may have a problem with your battery or charging circuit if this light appears. Safely stop your car if the light glows during a drive. Your fan belt may have snapped. Immediate repair is necessary.

Brake System
Faults in your brake system engage this light. You can drive a bit with this indicator shining, but get your brake problem repaired the same day it appears.

Open Door Warning Light
Every experienced driver has seen this indicator. Remember to safely check for open doors before you proceed with your trip.

Coolant Level Warning
Never drive when this light shines. You'll risk significant engine damage. This indicator warns you of a low engine coolant level. Running your car with low coolant levels causes your engine to exceed its safe operating temperature range.
