This summer, Toyota announced its investment in the EV charging network IONNA, focusing on building a robust charging infrastructure for battery electric vehicles throughout North America. Along with six other automakers, Toyota is supporting IONNA to enhance access to charging stations for EV drivers.
IONNA plans to install at least 30,000 charging ports across North America by 2030. These stations will be equipped with both NACS and CCS connectors to ensure compatibility with all battery electric vehicles (BEVs). The first set of DC fast-charging stations will debut this year, with additional installations planned nationwide.
This initiative reflects Toyota's commitment to BEVs. The automaker currently offers two models: the Toyota bZ4X and the Lexus RZ. Additionally, Toyota is set to launch two new three-row BEV SUVs and aims to expand its lineup to 30 BEV models across its Toyota and Lexus brands by 2030.
Toyota joins a group of major automakers—including BMW, GM, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz, and Stellantis—in supporting IONNA. These collaborative efforts are designed to improve EV charging infrastructure and encourage wider adoption of electric vehicles.
